Zachary “Zach” S.
Zachary Al-Tabbaa is a registered patent attorney at Hall Estill whose practice connects intellectual property, business transactions, and litigation. Drawing on his science background in microbiology, Zach works with clients in life sciences, medical devices, software, and other technology-driven industries.
Zach helps businesses protect and manage their intellectual property through patent and trademark prosecution, trademark clearance, licensing, and enforcement. His transactional work builds on that experience: he conducts intellectual property due diligence, assists with asset transfers, and drafts and negotiates licenses, nondisclosure agreements, and supply and service contracts.
When disputes arise, Zach represents clients in state and federal court in intellectual property and commercial matters involving copyright, trade secrets, contracts, lending, and creditor rights. He also represents clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and advises on domain name disputes. His work spans investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and negotiated resolution.
Before joining Hall Estill, Zach practiced at boutique intellectual property firms and served as a legal intern at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He was elected to serve as an at-large director of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association for the 2026–2027 term and also serves on the board of Laradon. The association named him its 2024 Outstanding New Hispanic Lawyer. Zach was recognized as a 2026 Colorado Rising Star in Intellectual Property Law by Super Lawyers and included in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for intellectual property law, intellectual property litigation, and patent law.
