I have been reflecting on recent tributes celebrating extraordinary people who have died. It seems like there are many such tributes as each calendar year ends. The tributes that caught my eye reveal their subjects to have made noteworthy accomplishments on the regional or national stage.

I read about people who are remembered fondly. They are praised for being activists, humanitarians, trailblazers, beacons of inspiration and champions. The tributes’ authors reveal the deceased to have been fearless about making waves, to have worked tirelessly, and to have succeeded in making a difference.
