J. Fred Gist

Mr. Gist joined the firm in 1989 and has practiced law in Oklahoma City since 1977.  An AV-rated attorney through Martindale-Hubbell, he primarily specializes in Oil & Gas law, with an emphasis on regulatory matters. In addition to extensive experience in Oil & Gas title law, he has appeared in regulatory matters before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission on behalf of numerous independent oil and gas producers, gatherers and pipeline transporters for over 25 years.  In addition, he has handled hundreds of applications dealing with all phases of oil and gas regulatory work before the Corporation Commission, including spacing, pooling, well density and all other filings required by the Commission in connection with exploration and production activities in Oklahoma.  Further, he is listed in Best Lawyers in America in Oil & Gas Law.

Mr. Gist has represented gas gathering, transportation and pipeline entities in various disputes before the Corporation Commission, including open access gathering complaints, pipeline safety and tariff issues.  He has also appeared on behalf of several producers and pipeline companies in environmental complaint cases before the Corporation Commission.  These cases involved resolution of the Commission complaint and associated Consumer Services and contempt actions, as well as presenting and monitoring remediation plans.  In addition, he is a frequent speaker at oil and gas related conferences and seminars, including the 2010 Institute for Energy Law's Short Course on the Law of Shale Gas Plays.
