Litigation Paralegal - Tulsa Office
The Tulsa office has an immediate opening for a paralegal in its litigation department. The successful candidate will work with attorneys through all phases of the litigation process, from the implementation of a legal hold, through the discovery process, pre-trial filings and trial preparation, and trial. Must be knowledgeable about trends and developments in legal technology. Must possess excellent legal research skills, including knowledge of electronic search technology and relevant databases. The knowledge, skills and abilities the candidate should possess include:
- Collects, analyzes, organizes and maintains factual information, documents, and electronically stored information.
- Responsible for the documentation of legal hold and discovery processes in accordance with best practices.
- Create and maintain internal case databases, run searches on internal and external document databases and systems, cull relevant information from a variety of on-line and other resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations. Files pleadings, motions and documents under the supervision of the assigned attorney. Manages, records and organizes all discovery and trial data, and prepares and maintains trial notebook.
- Assists in preparation of draft discovery requests and responses under the supervision of the assigned attorney.
- Files pleadings, motions and documents with the court as directed by supervising attorney.
- Assists in drafting minor procedural motions for an extension of time.
- Assists in locating and preparing witnesses for trial; obtains and organizes trial exhibits; and coordinates witnesses’ appearance at trial. Summarizes testimony and transcripts.
- Must have thorough knowledge of state and federal court system and civil procedures and be able to docket case deadlines accordingly.
- Good attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist other secretaries and/or attorneys performing overflow work assignments as requested.
- Develops and maintains a working relationship with clients in order to ensure the effifient and cost-effective provision of legal services.
